About Us

At the Specialty Coffee Education (SCE) centre we recognise that coffee is prepared (brewed) in many different ways, it is then served into an even longer list of beverages with different sizes and shapes (Espresso, Latte, Filter, Kopi, etc.). This provides consumers with an incredibly wide range of choice for the sensory attributes they experience in their favourite morning beverage, ranging from intensely bitter and barely drinkable, to harmoniously delicious and serendipitously moreish.

Different people enjoy different coffees

Traditionally, coffee was considered to be a bitter beverage that needed to be sweetened in order to have a pleasant taste. But through years of rigorous experimenting the industry has discovered that with the correct attention to detail placed on each step in the coffee supply chain (seed to cup journey), it is possible to achieve a more balanced and pleasing taste without additives. Indeed, coffee alone can offer a natural level of perceivable sweetness.

Introducing Specialty Coffee

The Specialty Coffee industry is a rapidly developing market sector at the forefront of the coffee industry. Our goal is simple - to make better coffee, but getting there is not so simple, and success in this this arena demands a significantly higher level of knowledge and skill compared to the commodity market (lower quality segment).

We’re here to bridge the gap

SCE was founded to support the Specialty Coffee industry in Australia (and beyond) by providing a superior education system for those that wish to progress in their career and/or business. From novice to advanced, Farmer to Barista, and everything in between, we have a wide range of courses in our pipeline that cover all the diverse roles in the coffee supply chain.

Whether your just getting started, or already have years of experience, we have a course for you
